Asset Management Plan

We are in the process of updating our Asset Management Plan (AMP) to help us make decisions on how we control our assets and direct our spending across departments.

What is Asset Management?

All municipalities have assets that need to be maintained. These assets can include:

  • roads
  • bridges
  • land
  • buildings
  • equipment
  • water and wastewater infrastructure
  • the natural environment,
  • and even the recreational services we provide.

We are growing and so is the expectation for new and improved facilities and services in Port Hope. With these improvements, we also need to consider the cost of our existing assets and the ongoing maintenance, repair and eventual replacement of all our assets. The Municipality needs to consider many factors when considering asset management. The need to catch up on overdue maintenance of existing assets and the increasing impacts of climate change are forcing staff to reprioritize their efforts and redirect budget spending.

Watch the video below for information on the Municipality's approach for the AMP and a look at some of Port Hope's many assets:

We want to hear from you!

We all have a role to play in determining which services are essential to our quality of life. An important part in developing our AMP is gathering the community's input. We are listening about the cost of service delivery and your needs and priorities as residents. This feedback will help us with proactive planning and help us make better, informed decisions to meet your current needs, while planning for the service needs of the future.

Your feedback also helps us develop a plan that reflects the experience and insights of local businesses and residents. In this survey we want to hear from our community, regulators, third party operators, independent service providers, independent asset owners. We want to gather as much feedback as possible from Port Hope residents so this survey will be open until December, 31, 2024. Feedback will be used along the way as we develop this plan.

Please fill out the survey at the bottom of this page by December 31, 2024.
